Game Game Recap: TR Info :We had a great start to the season on a warm, sunny morning. The game was played at SUNY Cortland, which was an awesome experience for all! We played 7 v 7 with 10 minute quarters. Izzy Conklin scored the first goal of the season in the first quarter with an assist from Klara Lottridge. Marathon JV's second goal came from Jaymi Conklin who carried the ball up the field and scored from a 1:1 with the goalie. Homer scored a goal in the 3rd quarter. Liz VanCise tallied a final goal for Marathon off of a penalty corner with an assist from Izzy Conklin. Mackenzie Forrest played well for her JV debut in goal. (Date & Time Changed from 09-30-2023) Event Notes: Game Game Recap: TR Info :Marathon traveled to Deposit to play Deposit-Hancock on a Saturday morning. The game started at 11 and we played half of the game 10v10 and 11v11. Marathon started out strong offensively with passing and controlling the ball early on. Marathon scored first and led the game 1-0 up until the last quarter. Alina Parker scored her first goal of the season during an offensive penalty corner with an assist to Liz VanCise. We had good offensive opportunities throughout the game. Our defense was terrific today as well as they controlled the back field with strong tackles and clears out of the circle. Mackenzie Forrest had 7 saves and played aggressive in the goal! Deposit-Hancock would score with 1:11 left in the fourth quarter to tie up the score. Marathon's will to finish strong, after a quick timeout, was incredible as they scored the game winning goal just ten seconds later! Liz VanCise scored the game winning goal after Marathon players drove the ball hard into the offensive circle. Klara Lottridge got the assist. Moravia scored a goal in the first quarter but Marathon held them til the fourth before the last 3 goals were scored. The team continued to play with heart and worked hard to gain possession of the ball. Mackenzie Forrest took on 14 shots and recorded 10 saves. She was aggressive in the goal and cleared a few loose balls in order to prevent Moravia from a few close range shots. Marathon showed tremendous improvement with possession and defensive skills since the Vestal game played earlier in the season. Lady Olympians played great defense for the majority of the game only allowing goals in the first quarter. The team played together, worked together and stayed together through the entire game. Afton-Harpursville came onto the field with speed and strong shots, scoring 6 goals in the first half. Marathon played defense and worked hard to get the ball out of the defensive end. In the second quarter Izzy Conklin scored for Marathon. In the third quarter Marathon and A-H battled back and forth with A-H scoring another two goals in the third quarter. In the final quarter Marathon rallied to score three more goals in the final quarter. Izzy Conklin scored her second girl. And, Liz VanCise hammered in two of her own to end the game 8-4. The team worked hard and persevered in order to finish strong at the end. Mackenzie Forrest worked hard in the goal facing 39 shots on goal. Forrest held strong earning 25 saves. Alina Parker and Aliviah Pendell had key saves on the goal line making one and four defensive saves as well. |
